My name is El Mechry, El Koudouss; I usually go with Meshry. Currently, I am an economics PhD student and a graduate research assistant at the Center for International Policy Studies at Fordham University working with Professor Darryl McLeod. My general area of interest is economic development. In particular, I am interested in good governance, inclusive economic institutions, development policy, and the effectiveness of development assistance. I am originally from Mauritania. I learned English from the Peace Corps, and came to the U.S. on a Fulbright scholarship. I have a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics from Augustana University as well as a master’s degree in economics from South Dakota State University.
